Mexican archers Miguel Figueroa, Ana Ruiz, Diego Borbolla and Regina Bernal won Pan American Champion titles in the cadet age groups during a stormy and intermittently interrupted afternoon at the world ranking event in Medellin.

Miguel Figueroa beat Colombia’s Alejandro Hortua in four sets, 7-1, to win his first international under-18 title.

“I feel very happy, I fulfilled my goals coming here and I’m very proud of myself. It was a difficult match but I adapted very well to the climate in Colombia,” said Miguel.

Guatemala’s Esteban Castillo took bronze over Luis Giraldo of Colombia.

The recurve cadet women’s title went to Ana Ruiz, who beat her Mexican teammate Yatana Mora, 7-3, in the final. Gabriela Ruiz of Colombia defeated Camila Acevedo in a single-arrow shoot-off, finishing with bronze.

The compound cadet men’s title was disputed between Diego Borbolla and Sebastian Villegas of Colombia. Borbolla was in command of the match from start to finish, shot 147 points and ended 18 points up on his opponent.

“I feel very excited to have represented Mexico this way. I trusted my technique and enjoyed it a lot,” said Diego.

Juan Ballesteros of Colombia took the bronze.

Regina Bernal. Adriana Castillo and Susana Castrillon climbed the compound cadet women’s podium.
