Nicholas D’Amour is going to the Games on a universality invitation, which is a quota spot given to small and developing countries in the sport. He earned it, though. The current world number four came returned stronger than ever after archery’s pandemic hiatus, moving from 196 in the rankings to the top five after finishing in the top eight in each of the outdoor international tournaments he shot this year. He even won his first international medal in Antalya at the 2021 European Grand Prix. If he continues to perform at this level, a top eight finish at his first Olympic Games is surely within sight.
