It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Canadian archer and coach Joan McDonald on Wednesday, December 22.

McDonald was one of Canada’s best archers back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. She competed at the 1979 Pan American Games where she won the individual bronze medal. She also represented her country at several world championships.

She was coach of the Canadian national team for more than 30 years.

Her passing is a significant loss for archery in the continent.

On behalf of the community, World Archery Americas expresses its heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
