Mexico is competing with two archers at the World Games in Birmingham. In the compound women we will see Andrea Maya Becerra, and in the compound men Miguel Becerra. Although they share their family names and both come from the Mexican state of Jalisco, they are not related. “Miguel and I have been teammates for more than 10 years, so we are preparing very hard to do the best job possible and we have the advantage that we train together every day, so our chemistry is 100%” Maya said. Last year we saw Maya finish 5th in the World Cup Final and take the bronze medal at the World Archery Championships in Yankton.
Also last year, Miguel won a gold medal in compound team at the first stage of the Archery World Cup in Guatemala. “The nerves are always present, but I am much more excited to represent the country in such an elite group of archers.” In the last edition of the Games, Mexico won the silver medal for mixed teams.
