Maria Emma Gaviria, vice president of World Archery, was re-elected as president of the World Archery Americas during the General Assembly last November 25 in Santiago, Chile.
President Gaviria thanked all the countries present for having reelected her with 100% of the votes, and assured that the Pan American Confederation will continue to provide development opportunities to its members.
Elections were also held for the positions of vice president, board members and the various committees of World Archery Americas.
Eleven motions were approved, among the most important of which were the 12-year maximum term limit for one person in the same position in World Archery Americas, staggered elections for the Committees, and the elimination of the geographical distribution of the vice presidencies. Vice Presidents may now be from any region.
Tom Dielen, Secretary General of World Archery, attended the assembly and gave a very detailed presentation on various aspects of interest, and congratulated World Archery Americas for the work it is doing in terms of governance, strategic development project and communications.
Another important point of the Assembly was the allocation of events for next year.
- Second Pan American Games Qualifier – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. March 27 to April 2.
- Para World Ranking Event – Chicago, United States. August 3 to 6.
- South American Championships – Guayaquil, Ecuador. October 2 to 8.
- Pan American Field Championships – Iguazu, Argentina. November 8 to 12.
In addition, the 2024 Pan American Youth and Masters Championships were awarded to San Salvador, and the 2024 Pan American and Parapan American Championships were awarded to Medellin, Colombia.

The assembly also approved the President’s appointment of Sergio Font as General Secretary.
