Brazil’s Marcus D’Almeida was crowned South American champion in recurve men’s category for the second consecutive year in Medellín, Colombia.
In addition to that title, he also took gold in the Open World Ranking Event.
Both competitions took place from May 20 to 25 at the same venue, with the only difference being the countries allowed to participate. The South American Championship is limited to countries from the region, while the World Ranking Event, as its name suggests, is open to participants from anywhere in the world.
The other three champions who joined D’Almeida were Ane Marcelle dos Santos of Brazil in recurve women, Sebastián Villegas Correa of Colombia in compound men, and Isabella Sepúlveda Mejía of Colombia in compound women.
In the World Ranking Event, Valeria Yepes Perez joined D’Almeida as a gold medalist in the recurve bow; Juan del Rio of Mexico won in the compound men; and Alejandra Usquiano of Colombia took gold in compound women.
