Colombian Maria Emma Gaviria was re-elected president of World Archery Americas for the 2026–2030 term during the continent’s General Assembly, held on June 22 in Tlaxcala within the framework of the Pan American Championships.
She received 56 votes in favor. The second candidate, César Otárola of Chile, received 29.
“I can only assure you that I will continue to work with the same passion and the same principles and goals to take World Archery Americas even further,” said Gaviria.
Gaviria, who was honored by the Colombian Olympic Committee earlier this year for her long career contributing to sports in her country, has served as president for the Americas since 2014.
In addition to this role, she is a member of the World Archery Council and president of World Archery Colombia.
In other elections, Gabriel Ramos, president of World Archery Mexico, was elected vice president, and Aaron Bull (Canada), Oscar Garcia (Costa Rica), and Kevin D’Amour (U.S. Virgin Islands) were elected as board members.
The Pan American Championships begin on Wednesday, June 24, and conclude on Sunday, June 28.
