The city of Lima, Peru, will once again host the Pan American and Parapan American Games in 2027.
The venue in Villa María del Triunfo, where compound archers competed for the first time at the 2019 Games, will once again host the competitions next year.
A total of 66 recurve archers and 36 compound archers will seek to win the Pan American title; but first, they must qualify for the Games.
The first athletes to qualify for Lima 2027 were the champions of the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción.
Cristian Esthephen García (Guatemala) and Isabelle Trindade Estevez Pereira (Brazil) were the recurve champions, while Rafael Magalhaes Moreira (Brazil) and Blanca Maritza Rodrigo Bueno (Ecuador) took the titles in the compound categories.
In addition to these already awarded spots, Peru, as the host country, has six spots reserved in recurve (three women and three men) and two in compound, one per gender.
The remaining spots will be awarded at designated competitions within the World Archery Americas calendar, the first of which is the 2026 Pan American Championships in Tlaxcala.
The competition will take place in the Mexican city from June 23 to 28 and is the event that will award the largest number of spots for Lima 2027—specifically, 18 in recurve and 9 in compound for each gender.
The first slots for recurve will be awarded during the team round to the top five teams. The remaining three spots will be awarded in a special individual round in which only those countries that have not secured team spots may participate.
In the case of compound, the first slots will be awarded to the top four teams—two per country—and one individual spot in a separate round for those nations that have not yet secured places.
Lima 2027 will once again feature team competitions for compound archery, but as in the Santiago 2023 Games, these will be held with only two members per team.
The results from Tlaxcala will also be used for the North American qualifier, which includes only the United States and Canada, based on specific criteria.
If these countries have not previously secured spots, they may compete for a single spot in the recurve division provided that the archer finishes in the top 8 of the special individual round.
After Tlaxcala, the remaining spots will be awarded at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, the 2026 South American Games in Rosario, and at the final qualifying event to be determined during the World Archery Americas General Assembly on June 22 in Tlaxcala.
