Marcus D’Almeida of Brazil took home the gold medal at the Pan American Championships in Tlaxcala in the recurve men’s category.

The competition took place from June 23 to 28, with 172 competitors from 18 countries across the continent participating.

The Brazilian faced Brady Ellison for a spot in the gold medal match in a hard-fought encounter.

After five sets, the match remained tied, and they went to a shoot-off.

Both archers hit the 10, but D’Almeida’s arrow landed closer to the center, allowing him to advance to the gold medal match.

In this Pan American title match, the Brazilian faced Eric Peters of Canada.

Still showing the same energy as in the previous match, D’Almeida continued to shoot very high scores and won the match 6-0 in the third set.

This is the Brazilian’s second Pan American title. D’Almeida won his first title in 2022 in Santiago, Chile.

The bronze medal went to Mexico’s Matias Grande, who won his match against Ellison in a shoot-off.

In the recurve women’s category, Jennifer Mucino of the USA won her first Pan American gold medal.

In this competition, she finished second in the qualification round, the best result on the USA recurve team.

Along with Ellison, she won the silver medal in the mixed team event the day before.

In the recurve women’s individual final, she faced her teammate and 2024 Medellin Pan American Champion Casey Kaufhold—the same teammate with whom she had won the team gold medal at the start of this Pan American Championships.

Mucino won in the fifth set with a score of 7–3.

Her medal marked the fourth individual gold medal for the US.

The bronze medal went to Mexico’s Ángela Ruiz, who also won her match 7–3 against Virginie Chénier of Canada.
