South American Golds: Brazil Wins Recurve, Colombia Wins Compound in Team Competitions

Brazil and Colombia claimed the first gold medals in archery at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games.

Brazil won two gold medals in the women’s and men’s recurve team events, while Colombia did the same in the compound division, thus matching the results they had achieved at the previous Games.

The first South American title up for grabs was in the recurve women’s category.

The Brazilian team—Ane Marcelle dos Santos, Ana Luiza Sliachticas, and Isabelle Estevez—defeated the Colombian team consisting of Tania Árias, Isabella Rorero Martínez, and Ana María Rendón.

The Brazilians needed only three sets to win the match 5–1.

The bronze medal went to Argentina.

Wanda Hilen Arca, María Luisiana Giudice, and Fiorella Pueyo Lopez defeated Peru 6–2.

In the recurve men’s event, Marcus D’Almeida, Matheus Gomes, and Matheus Zwick Ely defeated the Colombian team of Santiago Arcila, Santiago Cruz Cantor, and Jorge Enriquez 6-0.

The Chileans Andrés Gallardo, Tomás Peña, and Ángel Moisés Vega won the bronze medal against Venezuela 5-3.

In the compound division, Colombia faced Argentina in both gold medal matches.

Archers Sara López, Alejandra Usquiano, and Mariana Rodríguez won the gold against María Eugenia González, Daniela Paola Cheffer, and Guillermina González by a margin of 17 points.

The bronze went to the Ecuadorian team of Blanca Rodrigo, Stephania González, and Mia Navarrete, who defeated Brazil by a margin of 13 points.

Colombians Sebastián Arenas, Pablo Gómez, and Jagdeep Singh defeated the Argentine trio of Lucas Gárces, Iván Nikolajuk, and Nelson Salinas 231–228.

In the bronze medal match, Diego Camacho, Eduardo González, and Fraiber Rodríguez of Venezuela emerged victorious against the Brazilian team by a margin of three points.

 

The South American Games competition in Rosario continues with the individual qualifiers, which will award four spots for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
