The third edition of the South American Youth Games included archery in its sports program for the first time. These Games are a multidisciplinary event that takes place every 4 years with the participation of athletes between 14 and 17 years old; which for archery corresponds to the under 18 category.

The first time they were held was in Peru 2013. The third edition of the Games was planned for 2021, always one year before the Youth Olympic Games. But due to the Covid -19 Pandemic and global uncertainty, the Games were postponed. It was until the end of April of this year that they were held in the Argentinean city of Rosario from April 28 to May 8.

The archery competition was in the first days of the sports schedule, from April 28 to May 1. It included both recurve and compound divisions and a total of 27 athletes from 10 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

In the recurve, the Colombian Daniel Jiménez Serna and the Brazilian Isabelle Trindade Estevez Pereira were the ones who took the gold. On the compound side, Agustín Infante Pérez from Chile and Blanca Rodrigo from Ecuador won the gold medal. In the mixed team competition, Colombia took gold in recurve and Chile in compound.

The president of World Archery Americas was very positive after finishing the archery competition in Rosario 2022. “We are very happy because 7 of the 10 participating countries obtained medals.”
