Colombia won five gold medals in the team and mixed team events at the 2026 Pan American Junior and Masters Championships held in Medellín, Colombia.
One of the most exciting matches was the gold medal final in the mixed under-15 recurve division, where Colombia faced the United States.
After the fourth set, both teams were tied at 4 points, and the match was decided in a shoot-off.
The two teams scored a total of 18 points, but with a 10 and an 8, the Colombian team managed to land the arrow closest to the center and claim the Pan American title.
“When they finally told us we had won, I was overwhelmed with happiness,” said 14-year-old Colombian Ana Lucía Guarín Gutiérrez.
She and her partner Alejandro Gil Londoño, who shot the 10 in the tiebreaker, won one of the two team gold medals in the recurve category for the host country.
