Medellin hosted the Individual Continental Qualifier for Paris 2024 from April 7 to 9, with the participation of 37 men and 31 women in search of two spots in each gender.

Nicholas D’Amour from Virgin Islands, US and Santiago Arcila of Colombia won all their matches to reach the final for first place, thus securing an Olympic quota for their respective countries.

The South American defeated his Caribbean opponent by a score of 6-2.

The third place match between Mario Damián Jajarabilla (Argentina) and Oscar Ticas (El Salvador) did not seem to have the importance it later acquired – Colombia reached the gold medal in the recurve men’s team event and got the spot for the full team a few days later during the Pan American championship -.

Jajarabilla defeated Ticas in three sets.

After the team competition, the individual third place winner received a ticket to Paris, a distinction that went to the Argentinean.

The two women’s slots were decided in the quarterfinals after Canada and Puerto Rico managed to place two women each in the semifinals.

Kristine Esebua defeated her compatriot Virginie Chenier for the first place 6-4.

Alondra Rivera beat fellow Puerto Rican Nilka Cotto for the third step on the podium in a tiebreaker.
