Jane Karla Gogel of Brazil and Samuel Molina of Mexico set a new Para Pan American Championships record in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Gogel qualified first in the compound women open with 678 points, two points higher than her previous record in Santiago 2022.
“Even when I get a good score, I always demand more and more from myself,” commented Gogel.
“The competitors are very prepared and are also doing a great job to achieve high scores. I have to keep pushing myself to the maximum and not lose my concentration during the tournament.”
Mexico’s Samuel Molina qualified first in the recurve men open with 641 points.
He surpassed by 15 points the previous record of Michael Lukow of the USA, imposed in the 2016 Costa Rica Championship.
“The qualifying round is the experience of beating your own scores and for me it was a challenge, as I am recovering from an injury, and I know I can do better, but I am happy with the results” commented Molina.
The Para Pan American Championships will be held April 22-27 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
