Profiles of each archer from the Americas competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

  • Name: Alejandra Valencia
  • Country: Mexico
  • Age: 26
  • World ranking: 14
  • Olympic experience: 2016 (4th), 2012 (17th)
  • Qualification round personal best: 680 points

After her fourth place at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Alejandra has only improved. Her consistency has given her a clear role in the Mexican women’s team, as the usual top scorer. She won the individual quota place for Tokyo 2020 at the last world championships – and then, with teammates Aida Roman and Ana Vazquez, book the team spot at the last opportunity. And they, as a team, looked so resilient. Valencia is their core. But the reigning Pan American Games Champion has not had a finish above 17th place in the last three years. She’s a great teammate – but she’s more than talented enough to convert that into an individual Olympic podium, too.
