World Archery Americas has announced the winners of the Americas 2023 Best Archer of the Year Award.

One of the names that resonates in these awards is the current number one in the recurve men’s category, Brazil’s Marcus D’Almeida.

D’Almeida was crowned World Cup champion last year in Hermosillo and also won gold and bronze in the second and fourth stages of the World Cup circuit.

The Brazilian also reached the finals of the World Championship in Berlin where he won the bronze medal.

Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia was named the best archer of the year in the recurve women’s category.

Valencia achieved a historic victory by winning her third individual title in the Pan American Games and her second consecutive victory in the Central American and Caribbean Games.

The Mexican was runner-up in both the World Cup final and the World Championship in Berlin.

Another Mexican who took the award was Dafne Quintero in the compound women’s category.

Quintero was crowned champion of the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023 and the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

The 21-year-old archer also earned her first podium finish – the bronze medal- at the World Cup final.

One more Pan American champion to win the archer of the year award was Puerto Rico’s Jean Pizarro.

Pizarro took gold at both the Pan American Games and the Central American Games last year in the compound men’s category, which was historic for his country.
