The Argentine team won six medals, two of which were gold, at the Panama 2026 IV South American Youth Games..
The archery competition took place from 15 to 18 April, with Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela taking part.
This is the second time archery has been included in these Games and the first time Argentina has won gold medals.
Gabriel Joaquin Tonina won these two gold medals in the recurve under-18 individual and mixed team events, alongside Isabella Amanda Chorvat.
Tonina, who qualified in first place, secured a resounding victory over Brazil’s Lucas Wudson Oliveira Silva, winning 6-0.
Brazil once again claimed the title in the recurve under-18 women’s category, this time with Luiza Rodrigues Langon.
Langon defeated Argentina’s Chorvat, who had qualified in first place. She secured the victory in the fourth set with a final score of 6-2.
Ecuador also claimed the podium once again in the compound women’s division.
Dariana Isabel Heredia Sánchez won the final against Belen Gimenez Maria of Argentina by a margin of five points, 143–138.
Two Colombians faced off in the compound men’s final: Jeronimo Agudelo Bedoya and Juan Felipe González Correa.
González emerged victorious with a final score of 139-144.
Colombia finished first in the medal count with four gold medals and a total of 11 medals, followed by Brazil with three gold medals and a total of four medals.
